Muscat: The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) on Monday launched a logo marking the anniversary of the Sultanate of Oman joining the World Meteorological Organization (WMO).
The step reflects CAA’s keenness to enhance international cooperation in the fields of meteorology and climate.
The logo was launched during the Virtual Laboratory Management Group’s meeting, hosted in Muscat by the CAA from 20 to 23 January 2025. The meeting saw the participation of more than 35 representatives of the WMO, satellite agencies, and centres of excellence for satellite applications.
The meeting seeks to discuss ways to enhance international cooperation about using satellite applications, review the progress made in training programmes and explore ways of cooperation with other training centres, in addition to exploring opportunities for interaction, exchanging expertise and supporting the transition towards modern satellite technologies in WMO member states.
The meeting includes panel discussions about means of developing strategies for training and improving the use of satellite products in protecting lives and properties.
The meeting was attended by the President of the Meteorological Organization, the President of the European Satellite Organization and officials from authorities concerned.
