Muscat – The Indo Gulf and Middle East Chamber of Commerce (INMECC) Oman Chapter, operating under the umbrella and sponsorship of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) organized a farewell reception for His Excellency Amit Narang, Ambassador of India to the Sultanate of Oman at the Hormuz Grand Hotel in Muscat. Attending the gathering were the president and members of INMECC, board members and head of committees of OCCI, and invited guests to honor the Ambassador’s significant contributions in enhancing bilateral ties between India and Oman.
Welcoming the attendees, CA Davis Kallukaran, Deputy Chairman of the Foreign Investment Committee of OCCI and also Founder Director of INMECC said, “There are no words to express the extent to which His Excellency Ambassador Amit Narang had gone to ensure that the establishment of INMECC Chapter in Muscat was formally documented in the joint communication issued by the Ministers of Commerce and Industry of both Oman and India in 2023, when His Excellency Qais Al Yousuf, Minister of Commerce and Industry of Oman met with his counterpart in India, His Excellency Piyush Goyal.”
“This high-level documentation has paved the way for INMECC to execute a memorandum of understanding with OCCI, formally establishing the Oman Chapter of INMECC.” Mr Davis added.
Addressing the gathering, Mr. Mohiuddin Mohammed Ali, President of INMECC Oman Chapter narrated the contribution of His Excellency Amit Narang in enhancing the bilateral relations of India and Oman during his tenure. He said that he is personally indebted to Ambassador Narang for recognizing him as one of the 8 non-residents to speak at the Pravasi Bhartiya Divas celebration held in Bhubaneshwar, India, earlier this year.
In his speech to the members and invited audience, Ambassador Narang highlighted the strong momentum in India–Oman relations, expressing optimism about potential new initiatives, including a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA). He commended the role of organizations like INMECC in strengthening trade, investment, and cultural connections across the region.
Dr. Abdullah Al Harthy, OCCI Board Member and Chairman of Energy and Mining sector, emphasized the importance of OCCI’s collaboration with groups such as INMECC in fostering economic development. He highlighted the recently concluded India-Oman Investor Forum as an example of how joint efforts can bring tangible benefits to both nations, while promoting knowledge sharing and trade. The meeting also featured an address by Mr. Kiran Asher, the Group Managing Director of Al Ansari Trading Enterprise LLC.
Bouquets and mementos were presented to the outgoing Ambassador by Mr. Mohiuddin Mohammed Ali on behalf of INMECC. The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks by Mr. K C Khanna, Secretary of the Chapter, reaffirming INMECC’s commitment to driving sustained growth and strengthening bilateral partnerships under the auspices of OCCI.
