Muscat: Acting in cooperation with the Anaesthesia Department and Obesity Treatment Unit at the National Diabetes Centre, a specialised medical team from the Royal Hospital has performed the first laparoscopic gastric sleeve operation without surgery.
The operation, medically known as “gastric folding or gastric plication”, is aimed to help obese patients lose weight in a safe and effective manner.
The operation was a step forward in the Royal Hospital’s strategy to provide the best medical treatments and keep pace with rapid developments in the field of simple surgical interventions.
