MUSCAT: Shatti Al Qurum Water Front was a hub of excitement over the weekend as hundreds gathered to celebrate 50 years of Times of Oman.
The event, held on February 21 and 22 from 5 pm to 9 pm, was a nostalgic tribute to the newspaper’s rich legacy, bringing together long-time readers, curious visitors, and an array of engaging activities.
Visitors thronged Times of Oman stalls to learn about the publication’s journey and take advantage of exclusive subscription discounts.
Huge cutouts of historic front pages, tracing the newspaper’s evolution since its first edition in 1975, became a focal point of interest, offering attendees a walk down memory lane.
Adding a vintage charm to the celebrations, a Times of Oman reader showcased his pristine 1967 Ford Mustang — older than the newspaper itself — complete with its original 1967 license tag.
Meanwhile, some attendees fully embraced the nostalgia by dressing in 1975-style outfits, further enhancing the retro ambiance. The event was alive with music, interactive podcasts, and enthusiastic discussions about Times of Oman’s impact over the decades.
