Shura Council hosts Minister of Education

Muscat: The Shura Council on Wednesday hosted Dr. Madiha Ahmed Al Shaibani, Minister of Education, with whom the members discussed the policies and quality of school education, human resources development and education at private schools in the Sultanate of Oman.

The deliberations took place during the 7th regular session of the Council’s second sitting in the 10th Term.

During the session, Dr. Madiha stressed that, thanks to the support of the government and the Royal directives of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, the march of education in the Sultanate of Oman is gaining momentum in terms of action towards the realization of the desired quality of education.

Dr. Madiha pointed out that the government has allocated a budget valued at OMR27.4 million for the digital transition project, being a national priority.

The plan provides for developing the digital education system and artificial intelligence (AI) in a manner that secures gainsfrom technical programmes and applications in educational curricula, teaching strategies, administrative and educational systems and digital infrastructure in government schools, said Dr. Madiha.

“It is hoped that the new system of educational quality assurance will begin to be implemented during the next academic year (2025/2026). The Ministry has adapted all evaluation tools to be consistent with the standards set by Oman Authority for Academic Accreditation and Quality Assurance of Education. The system will apply to school achievements, personal growth, teaching assessment, the learning environment, leadership, management and governance,” said the minister.

Dr. Madiha added that the success of the educational system is the outcome of an integrated community partnership among all segments of society, through a drive to advance education in the Sultanate of Oman and ensure a bright future for young generations.

The session was attended by Khalid Hilal Al Maawali, Chairman of the Shura Council.
