Salalah: The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism has plans to develop three mountain trails in the Dhofar Governorate.
Specialised local companies in the governorate have been allotted the work to develop adventure tourism infrastructure in the governorate.
The project of the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism includes the establishment of a track for high-wire (Via ferrata) activity in Jabal Samhan.
It’s a kind of adventure activity practiced on iron tracks in high mountain regions with steep slopes. The work also includes providing tracks for mountain climbing in the Ain Hasheer area, the Tabaldi trees, and the Ain Ghaydh path with signposts to direct visitors to the aforementioned paths.
The work also includes repainting of walking routes for convenience of tourists.
Parts of the paths were paved to make the walk easier for users, which will enhance the influx of visitors to the picturesque region. It is worth noting that the geographical diversity of Dhofar Governorate makes it full of opportunities for adventure tourism, where hiking or mountain walking teams can practice their activities in more than 40 well-known mountain trails, due to its caves and water springs. -With ONA inputs
