Muscat: The construction work of the first phase of Al-Wafa District in Sultan Haitham City is progressing at fast pace, with the first villa (a model) expected to be ready within the next two weeks.
Salim bin Ali Al-Siyabi, Chairman of Al-Abrar Real Estate (the main developer of Al-Wafa District), stated that the handover of the first phase units is anticipated to begin in mid-2026, coinciding with the completion of infrastructure services including road networks, telecommunications, water, sewage, electricity, and lighting in Sultan Haitham City.
In a statement to the Oman News Agency, he said that the Al-Wafa District project comprises five phases spread over five years with a total cost of approximately OMR280 million.
The first phase, which commenced in September 2024, involves the development of 470 residential units including standalone villas, townhouses, and apartments of various sizes.
There has been noticeable demand for the second phase villa from both the Omanis and expatriates after the announcement of their sales last November.
The rapid pace of construction has instilled confidence among the beneficiaries with the first phase sales exceeding 96%, and the second phase sales will be launched soon.
Al-Siyabi highlighted that with the launch of the second phase, the company introduced a package of financial facilities, extending the financing period up to five years instead of the initial three years, and offering discounts of up to 15% based on the repayment period, along with special Ramadan offers for furnishing some unit facilities.
He emphasised that the Sultan Haitham City project, along with other future city projects in Oman, represents a significant addition to the real estate market, meeting population growth needs and aligning with Oman's increasing attractiveness as a safe destination for investment for both regional and global investors.
Jamal bin Nasser Al-Hadi, the official spokesperson for the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning, affirmed that the construction activities in Al-Wafa District reflect a successful model of public-private sector collaboration, enhancing the city’s status as a developed urban destination meeting future needs.
He added that the construction work in the district continues at a fast pace, while maintaining the highest standards, ensuring the readiness of integrated infrastructure along with Al-Wafa District.
One of the prominent government projects targeted in Al-Wafa District is the public school complex, which marks a significant shift in the public education system in cooperation with the Ministry of Education. This project will enhance the quality of educational services and align with the city's vision of providing a comprehensive urban environment.
Al-Hadi pointed out that Sultan Haitham City is steadily advancing as a model of well-planned and swift execution, establishing itself as a modern urban destination representing a qualitative transformation in urban development.
The combination of quality planning and rapid execution aims to create a balanced environment that meets societal aspirations and boosts Oman’s attractiveness for investment and residence.
Sultan Haitham City covers approximately 14.8 million square metres, accommodating 100,000 residents, with 19 integrated districts. The city’s construction is divided into four phases, starting from the last quarter of the previous year until 2045.
