Sur: The Municipal Council of South Al Sharqiyah Governorate on Monday held its 4th meeting for 2025 under the chairmanship of Dr. Yahya Badr Al Maawali, Governor of South Al Sharqiyah and Chairman of the Council.
The meeting reviewed developmental initiatives and service projects in the governorate.
The council discussed the proposed "Al Sharq Gateway" project, which aims to transform the governorate into a promising regional hub. It also examined a proposal to develop an integrated tourism waterfront along the coastal strip, designed to enhance tourism infrastructure and support recreational and economic activities.
Additionally, the council reviewed a request to reconsider land usufruct allocations in a manner that preserves the marine environment and natural resources while supporting sustainable ecotourism efforts. This initiative seeks to strengthen the governorate’s position as a unique tourist destination.
