29th Muscat International Book Fair opens with wide international participation

Muscat: The 29th Muscat International Book Fair has officially commenced at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre, under the patronage of HH Sayyid Dr. Fahd bin Al Julanda Al Said, Vice Chancellor of the Sultan Qaboos University.

The event is attended by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council of the UAE and Ruler of Sharjah, along with His Excellency Dr. Abdullah bin Nasser Al Harrasi, Minister of Information and Chairman of the Main Organizing Committee.

This year, the fair hosts 674 publishing houses from 35 countries, with 640 participating directly and 34 through agencies. The total number of titles and publications listed on the fair’s platform has reached 681,041, including 467,413 Arabic books and 213,610 foreign books. Additionally, 27,464 Omani publications are featured, with 52,205 newly printed books from 2024 and 2025.

The Governorate of North Al Sharqiyah is the Guest of Honor for this edition, showcasing a dedicated pavilion that highlights the region’s cultural heritage, historical figures, scientific contributions, tourist attractions, and modern lifestyle.
