Training camp kicks off for participation in International Nuclear Science Olympiad in Malaysia

Muscat: The Ministry of Education on Wednesday launched the central training camp for the national team participating in the International Nuclear Science Olympiad in Bangi, Malaysia.

The competition, in its second edition, will take place from 31 July to 5 August 2025, and will feature four students from the educational directorates of Muscat, North Al Sharqiyah, Al Dakhiliyah, and South Al Batinah.

Organized by the Department of Innovation and Scientific Olympiad, the camp includes theoretical training on solving nuclear science Olympiad problems, practical training on experiments in nuclear physics, solving high-level exercises and problems, and honing skills in tackling complex challenges.

The programme aims to enhance students' abilities in handling advanced problems through intensive drills that simulate the Olympiad’s format, equipping them with the tools needed for outstanding performance in the competition.

The International Nuclear Science Olympiad, organised by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), is a global contest designed to raise awareness about the peaceful applications of nuclear science and technology. It encourages students with a passion for the field to develop independent and innovative solutions to nuclear science and technology challenges.

The Olympiad also focuses on disseminating knowledge and deepening understanding of nuclear science and technology to promote a scientific approach toward its uses and applications. Additionally, it seeks to foster interest in the field among secondary school students worldwide.
