Muscat: The Directorate General for Combatting Drugs and Psychotropic Substances, in a joint operation with the Directorate General of Customs, has successfully arrested two individuals of Asian nationality for attempting to smuggle over 15 kilograms of opium to a European country.
The arrest came after a precise tracking operation on a suspicious shipment of water pumps originating from an Asian country. The drugs were professionally concealed inside the pumps by what is believed to be an international drug gang.
The suspects were apprehended while they were in the process of sending the illicit consignment through a shipping company.
