Amsterdam: The Royal Navy of Oman vessel (RNOV) "Shabab Oman II" participated on Thursday in the SAIL Amsterdam festival 2025.
The ship's participation alongside dozens of other sailing ships and historic vessels from around the world created a maritime tableau that encapsulated the history of navigation. The port was transformed into a global stage where cultures converged.
"Shabab Oman II" received exceptional attention from visitors and media. Crowds lined up to watch it dock among the largest historical vessels, which carried the memory of centuries of sailing. The Omani ship reflected the Sultanate of Oman’s rich heritage in maritime arts, affirming Oman's status as a seafaring nation with a revitalised civilized presence.
As part of the accompanying events, the Oman Investment Authority (OIA) participated by giving a series of lectures and promotional presentations. The aim was to introduce Oman and its promising investment opportunities, as well as to showcase its distinguished economic and logistical assets. These presentations were given to investors, entrepreneurs, and experts from the maritime and economic sectors participating in the festival, reinforcing Oman's civilized image and highlighting its position as a leading investment destination.
Sheikh Dr. Abdullah Salim Al Harthy, the Sultanate of Oman's Ambassador to the Kingdom of the Netherlands, stated: "The participation of 'Shabab Oman II' in this international event reflects the deep historical and friendly relations between the Sultanate of Oman and the Kingdom of the Netherlands. It also embodies Oman's keenness to be present at international forums with a humanitarian message based on peace and love."
Commodore Adel Humood Al Busaidi from the Royal Navy of Oman said: "'Shabab Oman II' is not just a naval vessel; it is a national symbol that reflects Oman's ancient history and embodies the aspirations of the present and future. These global maritime participations are a real platform to showcase the capabilities of Omani youth and reflect the Royal Navy of Oman's commitment to developing their skills and honing their expertise, thereby strengthening Oman's presence in international maritime and cultural arenas."
