From Pandas to Skylines: discover Hong Kong’s family wonders

Hong Kong: Skip the ordinary — Hong Kong is calling families who crave adventure, excitement, and unforgettable experiences. From bustling markets and towering skyscrapers to hidden cultural gems, every corner of Asia’s World City promises a new story, a new thrill, and memories that last long after the trip ends.

Here are some reasons to visit Asia’s World City this season.

1 A Muslim-Friendly Destination
CrescentRating, the world’s leading authority on halal travel, together with Mastercard, has unveiled the Global Muslim Travel Index (GMTI) 2025. In a major recognition, Hong Kong has ranked third among non-OIC (Organisation of Islamic Cooperation) destinations worldwide and was named “Most Promising Muslim-Friendly Destination of the Year.”

This accolade reinforces the city’s growing reputation as a welcoming destination for Muslim travellers from the GCC and beyond, who are seeking halal-friendly, family-oriented, and culturally enriching experiences in Asia.

Dr. Peter Lam, Chairman of the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB), said: “HKTB has worked with the Hong Kong SAR Government and our industry partners to develop the city as a Muslim-friendly destination through accreditation, education, and promotion. We are delighted by this recognition and remain committed to strengthening ties with the Middle East and ASEAN.”

Adding perspective, Mufti Muhammad Arshad, Chief Imam of Kowloon Masjid, told Times of Oman: “There are six major mosques in Hong Kong, including the Kowloon Mosque, which can accommodate up to 3,500 worshippers. Around 190 eateries are now halal-certified, up from 100 in early 2024, while more than 60 hotels, attractions, and venues have also been accredited.”

2 Pandas of Hong Kong
Animal lovers are in for a treat as Hong Kong celebrated the first birthday of panda twins Jia Jia and De De, born in August 2024 at Ocean Park.
The rare panda twins — offspring of Ying Ying and Le Le — have been hailed as a conservation triumph. Their arrival has boosted the city’s “panda economy,” drawing tourists from across the globe.

Ocean Park, their official home, offers visitors the Giant Panda Adventure, along with attractions such as the Grand Aquarium, the Ocean Express funicular, hilltop thrill rides with sea views, and the newly expanded Water World.

3 Spectacular Night Views
Hong Kong is world-famous for its skyline, ranked among the “Top Three Cities with the Most Spectacular Night Views” by Japan’s Yakei Convention & Visitors Bureau. Whether by the harbour, from the hills, or deep in the city, Hong Kong’s nightscape is a breathtaking experience.

4 Victoria Peak
From Lugard Road or the Sky Terrace 428, visitors can admire sweeping views of Hong Kong Island, Kowloon, and the bustling cargo piers. The newly refurbished Peak Tram adds to the experience.

5 Ngong Ping 360
This cable car on Lantau Island offers stunning views of the South China Sea and mountains, leading to the Tian Tan Buddha and Po Lin Monastery. Ngong Ping Village adds culture, shopping, and entertainment to the mix.

6 Seamless Connectivity
Reaching Hong Kong is easy. World class airline, Emirates operates triple-daily flights to the city, with two of them operating directly between Dubai and Hong Kong and one via a short stopover in Bangkok. Passengers flying from Muscat can experience Emirates’ recently deployed Airbus A350 between Muscat and Dubai, and connect onwards on either the iconic Airbus A380s or the Boeing 777 to Hong Kong.

So, pack your bags and get ready for a family adventure full of culture, nature, and unforgettable memories in Hong Kong.
