Moscow,: A delegation from Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) is currently visiting the Russian Federation to participate in Moscow-Oman Business Forum. It held meetings aimed at enhancing economic and investment cooperation between the two friendly countries.
Led by Eng. Ibrahim bin Abdullah Al Hosni, Board Member and Chairman of the OCCI Digital Economy and Artificial Intelligence Committee, the delegation visited Skolkovo Innovation Foundation (Russia's main innovation centre), where it was briefed about various technology projects and startups being developed at the centre.
The delegation also toured some Russian companies and factories operating in the fields of advanced technology, mining and logistics services.
During the forum, the Omani delegation participated with a number of working papers about BRICS Urban Future Forum (Cloud Cities Forum) held in Moscow. Two of the papers were titled "The Power of Algorithms: Strategies Towards a World of Artificial Intelligence" and "The Conscience of Robots: Artificial Intelligence, Data and Ethics."
The Omani delegation also participated in a working session held on the sidelines of the forum titled "From Moscow to the Middle East: A Net Partnership". It later took part in meetings with Russian companies to discuss opportunities for cooperation and investment.
The delegation later held a meeting with members of the Omani Embassy in Moscow, in the presence of Mohammed Al Habsi, Deputy Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to the Russian Federation, and a number of advisers at the embassy. The meeting reviewed outcomes of the delegation's visits to Russian companies, as well as opportunities for future cooperation with those companies in the sector of software and advanced digital technologies and other areas.
Then, the delegation conferred with members of Moscow Chamber, headed by Vladimir Platonov, who lauded the Omani-Russian economic relations, whose 40th anniversary will be celebrated in November 2025.
The two sides underscored the importance of organising regular meetings between the two countries’ chambers to enhance cooperation among business owners. Russian companies gave presentations through which they outlined their activities, businesses domains and scopes for cooperation with Omani companies.
Eng. Ibrahim Al Hosni pointed out that the OCCI’s participation in the recent events and meetings was a step forward towards developing economic and investment partnerships between the Sultanate of Oman and the Russian Federation.
Al Hosni explained that the positive outcomes of the OCCI's visit which, he said, will boost trade relations between the two countries and help develop cooperation in the fields of advanced technology, the digital economy and different industrial sectors.
