Mahdha Honey and Dates Forum 2025 inaugurated

Muscat: The third edition of the Mahdha Honey and Dates Forum 2025, organized by the Al Buraimi branch of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI), in partnership with several government and private entities, opened on Wednesday and will continue until the 28th of this month.

The opening of the forum was sponsored by Dr. Said bin Mohammed Al Saqri, Minister of Economy.

The third edition of the forum aims to highlight the natural and economic potential of Al Buraimi Governorate, particularly in the honey and date sector, foster trade relations between local producers and importers, and activate cooperation and partnerships between public and private sector institutions and civil society organizations to develop promising economic sectors in the governorate.

Zaher bin Mohammed Al Kaabi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Chamber’s Al Buraimi branch, said: “The Mahdha Honey and Dates Forum is an economic platform for the honey and date sectors, representing a close connection to the governorate’s cultural heritage. It reflects the firm trend toward strengthening and developing private sector businesses in various fields, including agriculture, given its economic and nutritional importance and value.”

He explained that the forum focuses on honey and date production in the Sultanate of Oman and reflects the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry's commitment to supporting promising economic sectors and promoting trade both locally and internationally.

On the sideslines of the forum, a date auction competition was organized with the participation of more than 30 participants who competed in five date varieties: Khalas, Fardh, Nighal, Bo Maan, and rare palm trees. This competition aims to highlight distinguished date varieties and provide opportunities for farmers and producers to showcase their production efforts, in addition to increasing the economic value of local and Gulf dates.

It is worth noting that the third edition of the forum witnessed the participation of approximately 100 exhibitors and included accompanying activities, including specialized workshops and a visit to an awareness museum that showcases the production journey from the beehive and palm tree to the final product.
