Muscat: Bank Muscat, the leading financial services provider in the Sultanate of Oman, was recently recognised with the Leadership in CSR Award during the Basma Awards event, organised by Muscat Media Group at the St. Regis Hotel in Muscat.
The event was held under the patronage of H.E. Engineer Ibrahim Said Khalaf Al Kharousi, Undersecretary for Heritage at the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, and in the presence of H.E. Sheikh Faisal bin Abdullah Al Rawas, Chairman of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The award was received on behalf of the Bank by Alya Mubarak Al Alawi, Assistant General Manager -Legal, at Bank Muscat.
This recognition highlights Bank Muscat’s pioneering role in launching impactful projects and initiatives under its robust social responsibility strategy.
The Bank’s initiatives and programmes target diverse community segments and sectors including environment, sports, youth, education, entrepreneurship, health, and tourism. The Bank is also actively involved in promoting financial literacy and partnering with charitable associations and volunteer groups across the Sultanate.
On this occasion, Alya Mubarak Al Alawi, Assistant General Manager - Legal, at Bank Muscat, expressed her pride in receiving the Leadership in Corporate Social Responsibility Award, stating: “We are honored to be recognised amongst the leading national institutions that prioritise community service. Bank Muscat’s sustainability and social responsibility strategy aims to deliver long-term benefits to various segments of society and create lasting positive impacts across multiple areas.
As the Sultanate’s leading financial institution, the Bank continues to design and implement strategic CSR annual programmes, ensuring tangible outcomes that benefit all segments of society. The Bank is also committed to strengthening its partnerships with public and private institutions as well as charitable organisations.
Amongst the Bank’s flagship CSR initiatives is the “Green Sports” programme, which contributes to the development of local sports teams by enhancing their infrastructure across the Sultanate. Another key initiative is “Tadhamun”, an annual programme implemented in cooperation with the Ministry of Social Development, aimed at providing essential household appliances to social security and low-income families.
To support Omani entrepreneurs, the Bank launched the “Al Wathbah Academy”, in addition to other initiatives specifically designed to boost financial literacy across society. These include the “Maliyat” digital platform, and the “Maliyat Academy” programme aimed at educating school students on financial matters.
These efforts also contribute to promoting awareness around digital financial fraud prevention. Bank Muscat is also a pioneer in launching ATM machines tailored for the visually impaired, in collaboration with the Al Noor Association for the Blind.
In recognition of its leadership in corporate social responsibility, Bank Muscat has received numerous awards, including the Innovation in Social Responsibility Initiatives award from United Media Services, the Best Bank in Sustainable Development award from Capital Finance International, and the Sustainability Award at the Oman Sustainability Week Awards. These accolades underscore the Bank’s ongoing dedication to impactful social engagement and sustainable development across the Sultanate.
