Salalah: The Sultanate of Oman on Sunday signed a technical cooperation agreement with Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to implement the master plan for the development of the Al Najd area in Dhofar Governorate.
The signing was held under the patronage of HH Sayyid Marwan bin Turki Al Said, Governor of Dhofar, in the presence of Dr. Saud bin Hamoud Al Habsi, Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources.
The agreement was signed on behalf of Oman by Dr. Ahmed bin Nasser Al Bakri, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources for Agriculture, and on behalf of Japan by Kei Toyama, Director-General of the Middle East and Europe Department at JICA.
The agreement falls within the framework of preparing and implementing the master plan for the development of the Al Najd area in Dhofar Governorate, which is distinguished by unique natural potentials, including abundant water resources, an expansive agricultural footprint, and fertile flatlands, making it a promising zone for agricultural investment and for bolstering domestic production.
