Plan for 60 diverse events at Musandam winter season

Muscat: The Musandam Governorate on Monday launched its fourth winter season for the year 2025-2026, which will commence next November and continue for six months.

The launch took place during a promotional ceremony held in Muscat, under the patronage of Salim Mohammed Al Mahrouqi, Minister of Heritage and Tourism.

Held under the slogan “Partnership,” the ceremony underscored the integration of efforts between the public and private sectors.

It announced the start of a promising tourism season featuring over 60 diverse events across the four wilayats of the governorate, the Niyabat of Lima and the village of Kumzar, aiming to enhance Musandam’s position on the regional and global tourism map.

The ceremony honored a selection of government and private entities, as well as media institutions that contributed to the success of the 2024-2025 season, which attracted 789,215 visitors from within and outside the Sultanate of Oman. A number of sponsorship agreements for the new season were also signed, reflecting the private sector’s confidence in tourism investment opportunities in the governorate and contributing to enriching the visitor experience and supporting economic activities. The economic growth during the previous season exceeded RO 251 million.

During the ceremony, the organizing committee for the Musandam Winter Season announced the winner of the “Distinguished Media Personality” award, in the presence of media professionals and content creators. This award acknowledges the outstanding media efforts that helped highlight the season’s events and promote the tourism and cultural assets of the Musandam Governorate.

Sayyid Ibrahim Said Al Busaidi, Governor of Musandam, stated that the launch of the Musandam Winter 2025-2026 season represents a new phase in solidifying the governorate’s status on the regional and global tourism map, blessed by the Almighty Allah with exceptional nature that combines the grandeur of towering sea fjords and a deep historical heritage, offering an unparalleled tourism experience.

In his speech, he added that the slogan “Partnership” affirms that investing and optimally utilizing these unique assets to achieve the targets of Oman Vision 2040 requires concerted efforts among all institutions to deliver a sustainable tourism product worthy of Musandam’s uniqueness and one that adds value to the national economy.

On his turn, Haitham Mohammed Al Ghassani, Director of Tourism Promotion at the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, stated that the Ministry, during the “Winter Musandam” season, seeks to continue its campaign to promote the governorate, aiming to craft a distinctive, innovative, and sustainable tourism experience that aligns with the nature and uniqueness of the governorate.

The organising committee for the “Winter Musandam” season confirmed that preparations for the season began early, focusing on designing quality programs and events inspired by Musandam’s authentic identity.

These aim to enrich the visitor experience through a comprehensive package of recreational, sporting, artistic, cultural, and heritage activities that reflect the governorate’s ancient history. -ONA
