Oman to host 2025 World Snooker Championship

Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman will host the Double World Snooker Championship (Men's and Team) from 15-23 November 2025, in Muscat.

The event will feature the participation of over 120 players representing 35 countries.

Oman's winning bid was announced during a press conference held today at the Oman Automobile Club. The championship will be supervised by the International Billiards and Snooker Federation (IBSF) and sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, Sohar International bank, and Active Oman.

Khalid bin Khalfan Al Sabahi, Chairman of the Oman Billiards and Snooker Committee, said during the press conference that this achievement reflects the IBSF's confidence in Oman's ability to organise major sports events according to the highest standards. He affirmed that Oman's bid surpassed those of several competing countries due to its clear vision and integrated organizational plans, noting that the upcoming edition is considered one of the largest in the tournament's history.

He added that the Oman Billiards and Snooker Committee has paid special attention to the national snooker team, preparing a comprehensive plan to ensure the players' readiness for strong competition and to represent the Sultanate of Oman in the best possible way.

He stressed that the championship is an opportunity to showcase Oman's civilized image and enhance its position as a hub for hosting international events. It will also undertake a role in boosting sports tourism and providing Omani youth with the chance to engage with world stars of the sport.

The Chairman of the Committee also indicated that the championship will receive extensive media coverage across the IBSF platforms, accompanying international media, and through the official channels of the Omani Committee, allowing fans to follow the details of the tournament both inside and outside the Sultanate of Oman.
