The Zubair Corporation reaffirms sustainability Leadership at the 6th World ESG Summit

Muscat: The Zubair Corporation took part in the 6th Edition of the World ESG Summit, held on 29–30 September 2025 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The event brought together global business leaders, policymakers, and ESG practitioners to address how Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles are shaping investment decisions, corporate strategy, and regional competitiveness.

Representing The Zubair Corporation, Ali Shaker, Head of ESG & Sustainability contributed to a panel discussion titled “Beyond Compliance – Unlocking Business Value and Trust through ESG Reporting”. His intervention positioned ESG not simply as a reporting exercise, but as a driver of measurable business performance and resilience.

“At The Zubair Corporation, ESG is part of how we future-proof the business,” said Ali Shaker. “Embedding sustainability into our strategy enables us to attract capital, strengthen stakeholder trust, and compete regionally. Beyond compliance, we see ESG as a lever for innovation, cost efficiency, and stronger market positioning.”

Ali Shaker outlined The Zubair Corporation’s ESG framework, explaining how it had been embedded into the Group’s operating model across diverse sectors. He highlighted the key drivers of the Corporation’s strategy, including regulatory alignment, investor expectations, operational efficiency, and long-term value creation. He also addressed practical challenges such as harmonizing ESG data across subsidiaries and sectors, building internal capabilities, and managing the pace of change while maintaining competitiveness.

The discussion also explored how regional companies can accelerate their ESG maturity by sharing frameworks, lessons learned, and sector-specific approaches. Shaker emphasized The Zubair Corporation’s openness to collaboration, noting that exchange of knowledge across borders and industries is essential to achieving collective progress.

Commenting on the participation, Niels Bormans, Group Chief Executive Officer of The Zubair Corporation, said: “Our presence at the World ESG Summit reflected more than participation—it reflected our responsibility as a regional business leader. We see ESG as central to competitiveness, investor confidence, and long-term resilience. The dialogue in Riyadh reinforced our determination to raise the bar in sustainability and ensure that The Zubair Corporation remains at the forefront of responsible growth.”

Looking ahead, The Zubair Corporation is preparing to publish its enhanced ESG & Sustainability Report, introducing expanded disclosures on carbon emissions, supply chain management, and social impact programs. The Group is also advancing partnerships with regional peers to develop joint initiatives in renewable energy adoption, workforce upskilling, and sustainable procurement.
