Fine art highlights status of Omani women and their role in enriching cultural scene

Muscat: The fine art is one of the fields of innovation that showcase the role the Omani woman play in the cultural arena, thanks to the strong association between the Omani woman and the society and the ability of the Omani woman to express.

Hajir bint Jumah Al Mamari, visual art teacher at  Bowsher Basic Education School said that the fine art plays  a vital role in cementing the beauty of the Omani environment and its varied heritage and folk arts in the minds and hearts of the upcoming generations.

She said that she teaches her students through classroom projects using different materials and digital applications concerned with drawing.

She added that the upcoming generation has a role to play in preservation of the artistic values and in showcasing the national identity brand through understanding the symbols, codes, colours and materials used in traditional arts and in exercising the traditional craft industries within the art classes. 

Jinan bint Mohammed Al Abdulsalam, a fine art student at Sultan Qaboos University said that her most inspiring element in fine art is the ability of fine art in transforming thoughts and feelings into artistic forms full of life.

She said that fine art is a space with no boundaries through which she expresses her thoughts, feelings and identity in a language understood by each and every one.

Horiyah bint Ghalib Al Harrasi , a visual artist said that the Omani woman has a role in enriching the art arena through her portraits in which she expresses her values, memories and loyalty to the land and human.

She said that she is inspired by the beauty of the Omani environment and its elements including the mountains, the sea and the palm trees, which she has used in her artworks.

She further added that in her participations in the local and international exhibitions, she introduced a bright image for the creative Omani woman.

She pointed out that art is not restricted to personal innovation but also carries a message that tells stories on the land and other elements of the environment.
