Muscat: Ahmed Al Muqbali Advocates and Legal Consultants, a leading Muscat-based law firm, has become the first firm in Oman to establish a formal cross-border legal partnership by signing a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with MTS Legal, Kochi, India. This milestone represents a significant step in redefining legal services for clients across Oman and India.

Adv. Fathima Biju, daughter of Adi Raja Biju and Seeniya Biju, respected figures in Oman’s Indian business community, is the first Indian lawyer appointed at Ahmed Al Muqbali Advocates. Pursuing law was her father’s dream, and with the unwavering support of both her parents, Fathima studied at Ramaiah College of Law, Bangalore, and is enrolled in the High Court of Kochi. Having lived in Oman for 25 years, she brings deep knowledge of both Omani and Indian cultures, language skills, and legal expertise, uniquely contributing to bridging legal services for Indian clients in Oman and supporting international initiatives.

Founded and chaired by Adv. Ahmed Al Muqbali, the firm has rapidly earned a strong reputation in commercial, civil, labour, and corporate law. With offices in Al Mawaleh and Bausher, the firm is expanding globally through MoUs with law firms, as well as partnerships with foreign and local companies in countries including India, Brazil, Iran, Turkey, Jordan, and more.

MTS Legal has served major public and private sector clients, including Bharat Petroleum, Tata Tea, Emirates, Apollo Tyres, Indian Oil, and Hindustan Petroleum. The firm specialises in corporate law, real estate, taxation, arbitration, intellectual property, and cross-border collaborations.

Oman is home to a vibrant Indian community, comprising approximately 20% of the population, or around 800,000 individuals.

This community is actively engaged across various sectors, including healthcare, retail, construction, and hospitality.

Many individuals from around the world are keen to establish businesses in Oman, and with its extensive legal expertise and cultural understanding, the firm is well-positioned to assist Indian nationals and businesses seeking reliable legal guidance.

Adv. Ahmed Al Muqbali, Founder and Managing Partner, said: “Today’s MoU is not just a cooperation agreement; it marks the beginning of a strategic partnership redefining cross-border legal services. Our aim is to build a strong bridge of trust and knowledge between Oman and India, providing integrated legal support and cultural insight to help investors succeed.”

Adv. Sharan Shahir, Partner at MTS Legal, commented: “Partnering with Ahmed Al Muqbali Advocates strengthens our reach and expertise.
