Oman unveils National Statistics and Information Strategy 2025–2030

Muscat: The National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) on Wednesday launched the “National Statistics and Information Strategy 2025-2030” during a workshop that was attended by more than 100 representatives of government departments.

The workshop sought to raise awareness about the National Statistics and Information Strategy 2025-2030 (NSIS 2025-2030) and elaborate about its envisaged performance indicators. It was organised in pursuance of national efforts to unify statistical and information procedures and enhance coordination among government units to ensure the integration of data and information towards meeting the priority goals of Oman Vision 2040.

Dr. Khalifa Abdullah Al Barwani, Chief Executive Officer of the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI), said in a speech that the NSIS 2025-2030 constitutes a comprehensive national framework for developing the system of statistics and information in the Sultanate of Oman.

Al Barwani pointed out that current stage focuses on fostering a data-driven work culture in government units.

Speaking about the objectives of the strategy, Al Barwani said that the NSIS 2025-2030 seeks to enhance knowledge to support decision-making, augment the productive capacity of statistical and information work, build national capabilities and optimise the use of advanced technologies in statistical domains in the future.

In addition to presentations and interactive discussions about the strategy's themes and objectives, the workshop explored successful national experiences in developing systems of statistics and information worldwide with the prime aim of devising an efficient mechanism for monitoring the implementation of the NSIS 2025-2030 and its performance indicators.

The launch of the NSIS 2025-2030 introduces a practical stage where government departments would be able to adopt integrated institutional practices that keep pace with the transition towards data-driven management and contribute to the realisation of the goals of Oman Vision 2040.
