Campaign on cybersecurity in civil aviation sector launched

Muscat: Under the framework of national initiatives to strengthen digital readiness and safeguard critical infrastructure, the cybersecurity awareness campaign for the civil aviation sector commenced in Muscat on Monday.

 This strategic initiative aims to elevate awareness levels regarding cyber risks while systematically cultivating a robust culture of digital protection throughout the operational environment.

The campaign is designed to embed fundamental cybersecurity principles among civil aviation sector personnel while disseminating secure operational practices that ensure comprehensive protection of systems and information against escalating cyber threats, particularly within the context of rapidly accelerating global technological advancements.

Campaign activities focuses on educating both sector employees and the general public regarding preventive measures against cyber attacks and establishing secure data handling protocols.

The comprehensive three-day awareness programme incorporates specialised lectures and interactive workshops designed to systematically build cybersecurity capabilities across the aviation ecosystem.

Implementation of the campaign involves coordinated efforts between the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), the Directorate General of Airport Security, Oman Airports, national airline carriers, and ground service providers. This collaborative institutional approach demonstrates the sector’s unified commitment to maintaining the highest standards of security and operational integrity for its digital infrastructure systems.
