Oman to host Gulf Cinema Festival 2025

Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman will host the Gulf Cinema Festival 2025 events, organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, from 16-19 November at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre. The festival features the participation of 26 Gulf films competing for nine festival awards across various categories, including feature, short, and documentary films.

Sayyid Said Sultan Al Busaidi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth for Culture, stated that the Festival aligns with a clear vision translated by the Cultural Strategy 2021-2040 to enhance the cultural leadership of the Sultanate of Oman and its cultural communication at the regional level. He noted that the Festival is a leading platform for promoting Gulf cinematic momentum, exchanging artistic and creative experiences, and highlighting the shared cultural identity of the Arabian Gulf countries through cinematic art.

He added that organizing the Festival is part of the Ministry's diligent efforts to develop the creative industries sector and empower youth to contribute to a Gulf cinema industry that expresses the reality and future aspirations of Gulf societies.

The Festival grants 9 main awards to honor the most prominent participating works in their fields: Best Feature Film, Best Documentary Film, Best Short Film, Best Original Score, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Screenplay, Best Director, and Best Cinematography.

The Festival will attract an elite group of Omani and Gulf artists and a number of directors, writers, media figures, and those interested in the cinema industry from the GCC countries and beyond.
