Oman's trade balance surplus exceeds OMR3.9bn

Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman's trade balance recorded a surplus of OMR3.930 billion by the end of August 2025. This is a 36.1 percent decrease compared to the OMR6.145 billion surplus recorded during the same period in 2024.

Preliminary statistics issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) showed that the total value of commodity exports reached OMR15.318 billion by the end of August 2025, a 9.5 percent decrease compared to OMR16.926 billion in the same period of 2024.

This decline is primarily attributed to a 16.8 percent drop in Oman's oil and gas exports, which reached OMR9.775 billion by the end of August 2025, compared to OMR11.753 billion during the same period in 2024.

In contrast, Oman's non-oil commodity exports achieved a growth of 9.4 percent with a value reaching OMR4.421 billion by the end of August 2025, compared to OMR4.042 billion during the same period in 2024.

Re-exports also registered a slight decline of 0.8 percent by the end of August 2025, reaching OMR1.122 billion compared to OMR1.131 billion during the corresponding period in 2024.

The data indicated that the total value of commodity imports to the Sultanate of Oman rose by 5.6 percent by the end of August 2025, reaching OMR11.389 billion, compared to OMR10.780 billion during the same period in 2024.

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) topped the list in trade exchange for non-oil exports by the end of August 2025, with a value of OMR821 million, achieving a 28.8 percent growth compared to the end of August 2024. The UAE also topped the list of countries to which Oman re-exported goods, valued at OMR433 million, and the list of countries exporting to Oman, with imports valued at OMR2.733 billion.

Saudi Arabia ranked second in the list of Omani non-oil exports, with a value of OMR784 million, followed by India with OMR436 million.

In re-exports, Iran came in second with a value of OMR202 million, followed by Saudi Arabia with OMR98 million.

Regarding the countries exporting to Oman, China ranked second with imports valued at OMR1.166 billion, followed by the State of Kuwait with OMR1.042 billion.
