Oman participates in UN Climate Change Conference in Brazil

Belém: The Sultanate of Oman participated in the proceedings of the United Nations Climate Change Conference "COP30", which commenced its sessions in the city of Belém, Brazil, with the attendance of 200 countries.

The delegation of the Sultanate of Oman was headed by Dr. Abdullah bin Ali Al Amri, Chairman of the Environment Authority.

During the meetings, the National Negotiating Team on Climate Change is focusing on several key themes, most notably attracting green investments. The Sultanate of Oman is actively working to attract foreign direct investment in green economy projects and climate finance for adaptation.

In various meetings, including with the Arab Group and the Group of 77 and China, the National Negotiating Team on Climate Change affirmed the legitimate right of the Sultanate of Oman to access climate finance, particularly as it stands as a regional pioneer in renewable energy, especially green hydrogen.

The Sultanate of Oman has reiterated its full commitment to achieving its environmental and climate objectives, grounded in its steadfast belief that climate transformation is not a burden on development, but rather represents a significant economic and developmental opportunity. This commitment contributes to building a sustainable and diversified economy and advancing investments in clean energy, sustainable infrastructure, and climate intelligence as key drivers of growth in the 21st century.
