Forum in Duqm to drive innovation and entrepreneurship
Duqm: The third Entrepreneurship Forum in Al Wusta Governorate will be launched on Monday in Duqm under the slogan ‘Al Wusta Innovates’.
It will be an important platform driving innovation and entrepreneurship in the governorate.
The opening of the forum will be patronised by Sheikh Dr. Ali bin Masoud Al Sunaidy, Chairman of the General Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones.
The forum will involve two dialogue sessions that highlight the role of institutions that support and enable innovation and entrepreneurship; the first session is titled: “Entities and institutions that support innovation in promising sectors” and deals with incubation methodologies, business accelerators and the roles of national institutions in enabling innovation within priority economic sectors.
The second session, titled “Funded and Enabling Institutions for Entrepreneurship,” focuses on funding and empowerment mechanisms, reviewing successful models for supporting entrepreneurs and small and medium enterprises, in addition to discussing modern investment tools and their role in building an integrated entrepreneurial system.
The programme for the first day also includes a field visit to a number of projects in the Duqm Special Economic Zone, with the aim of learning about advanced experiences and the infrastructure prepared to receive innovation and investment projects.
Meanwhile, the second day of the forum will host the innovative “Idethon” event with the participation of 10 youth teams from various wilayats, with the aim of transforming entrepreneurial ideas into scalable business models, thereby enhancing the culture of innovation among young people and motivating them to embark on new entrepreneurial paths.
Dr. Salem bin Salim Al Junaibi, Board Member and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry branch in Al-Wusta Governorate, explained that the forum comes to enhance the economic status of the governorate and showcase the energies of youth and their ability to produce innovative solutions that meet the requirements of the future economy.
He told the Oman News Agency that the branch of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Al Wusta Governorate is working on building an integrated innovation system that connects investors with supporting institutions and government agencies, which opens up broad horizons for entrepreneurship and creates a more attractive environment for the growth of quality projects, noting that Duqm is a national model of potential prepared for innovation and entrepreneurship, and this forum enables young people to be partners in creating a sustainable economic transformation.
