Use of AI and drones for sustainable agricultural sector reviewed

Muscat: The proceedings of the "Entrepreneurship Forum in Fifth Generation Agriculture" began on Sunday in Muscat. The forum reviews fifth-generation technologies, including Artificial Intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT), and drones, which contribute to empowering entrepreneurs and building a smarter and more sustainable agricultural sector.

It is jointly organized by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources and the Arab Organisation for Agricultural Development (AOAD), and will continue for five days.

The opening of the forum was held under the auxpies of Dr. Ahmed Nasser Al Bakri, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources for Agriculture.

An exhibition for drones and AI technologies was held on the sidelines of the forum. The forum also includes a training program for mentors in the development of agricultural entrepreneurship consultants, a forum for developing the entrepreneurship climate, as well as a training program on agricultural drones and the use of AI in agriculture and food security.

The convening of the forum reflects the Sultanate of Oman's direction towards enhancing agricultural innovation and establishing a smart and sustainable agricultural system capable of facing challenges and capitalizing on opportunities, thereby reinforcing the role of the agricultural sector as an effective driver of economic development.
