Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman marked on Wednesday the International Human Rights Day, which falls on 10 December of every year.

Marking this day affirms the importance of promoting justice, equal opportunities, and empowering this category in various areas of life.

This year's celebration by the Oman Human Rights Commission (OHRC) was held under the auspices of Sayyid Dr. Kamil Fahad Al Said, Secretary-General at the Secretariat General of the Council of Ministers. Several members of the Royal family and senior officials attended the event

The ceremony underscored the importance of enhancing the presence and empowerment of persons with disabilities and reviewing initiatives that support their integration into society and the labor market.

During the ceremony, the Commission announced the first batch of certified trainers in the field of human rights in cooperation with the Geneva Institute for Human Rights.

The ceremony included a brief film about the Commission's competencies in monitoring rights, receiving complaints, awareness, and institutional cooperation, as well as a documentary film reviewing the national efforts in supporting persons with disabilities. A motion graphic was also presented, explaining the mechanisms for dealing with related issues and the most relevant statistics, in addition to a musical performance by students from Al Amal School for the Deaf, which provided a model of creativity and human expression.

The ceremony witnessed the honoring of a group of pioneering national initiatives for 2025 in the field of employment, training, and rehabilitation of persons with disabilities. The Oman Human Rights Commission concluded the ceremony by affirming the continuation of efforts aimed at protecting human rights, preserving human dignity, and strengthening partnerships that support integration and sustainable empowerment.
