
Muscat: The total number of registered vehicles in the Sultanate of Oman rose by 5.6 percent by the end of November 2025, reaching 1,842,651, compared to 1,745,642 during the same period in 2024, according to data issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information.
The data indicated that private vehicles constituted the largest proportion of total registered vehicles, with their number reaching 1,458,764, recording a growth of 5 percent compared to the same period last year. They were followed by commercial vehicles with a count of 272,233 and a growth rate of 7.7 percent. Rental vehicles also increased by 12.4 percent to reach 44,075 vehicles. Motorcycles recorded a growth of 12.6 percent, with their number reaching 8,609. Taxi vehicles rose by 0.9 percent to reach 28,495 by the end of November 2025.
Regarding the colors of registered vehicles, white topped the list with 778,846 vehicles, followed by silver with 237,055 vehicles, then gray with approximately 190,278 vehicles, while black recorded about 98,333 vehicles. The data also showed a notable increase in blue-colored vehicles, which numbered 102,372.
In terms of engine capacity, vehicles with a capacity of less than 1500 cc formed the largest segment with 154,127, followed by vehicles with a capacity of 1500–3000 cc with 1,003,632, then vehicles with a capacity of 3001–4500 cc with approximately 407,507. Meanwhile, the number of vehicles with a capacity of more than 4500 cc reached about 228,025 by the end of November 2025.
As for weight categories, vehicles weighing less than 3 tons captured the largest share with 1,671,480. They were followed by vehicles weighing between 3 and 7 tons with 53,459, then vehicles weighing between 7 and 10 tons with 39,846. The number of vehicles weighing over 10 tons reached about 77,866.
