Adam: The activities of the 9th Annual Al Bashayer Camel Racing Festival will kick off on 2 February 2026 at Al Bashayer Camel Racetrack in the Wilayat of Adam, A’Dakhiliyah Governorate. The 6-day festival will see broad participation of camel owners from the Sultanate of Oman and the GCC countries.
HH Sayyid Asa'ad bin Tarik Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for International Relations and Cooperation Affairs and Personal Representative of His Majesty the Sultan, affirmed that the festival enjoys the support of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik- who accords camel racing his utmost patronage and care as it represents an Omani heritage cherished by forefathers and ancestors, a path followed by their descendants to preserve the Omani breed of purebred camels, which remain exemplary in their participation both inside and outside Oman.
He added that His Majesty's directives to preserve this heritage are met with trust and appreciation from specialists and those concerned with this sport. Al Bashayer Camel Racing Festival comes in support of the races organized by the Royal Camel Corps and the Oman Camel Racing Federation, HH Sayyid Asa’ad said.
In a statement to Oman News Agency, he pointed out that the festival represents a sporting, social, and economic gathering that brings together camel owners and trainers from various governorates of Oman and GCC countries. He indicated that this annual event is held out of belief in its importance in preserving this Omani heritage and fostering affection and harmony among different segments of society on the land of Al Bashayer.
HH Sayyid Asa’ad added that the organizing committee is keen on developing the festival in terms of the prizes offered, the scale of participation, and expanding the race rounds, alongside diversifying the accompanying events.
He noted that the racetrack is undergoing continuous modernization and development to be among the best camel racing fields, where camel owners and trainers find all means of comfort and facilitation for their camels and participation, while giving utmost priority to security and safety from the moment of entering the field until the finish line.
