Air conditioning production plant commences operations in Salalah Free Zone

Salalah: Salalah Free Zone announced the commencement of actual operations at a factory specialised in the production of air conditioning units. Owned by Engineering Industries Company, the facility represents an investment of OMR4.62 million and has a production capacity of approximately 70,000 units per year. This step reflects the growing volume of specialised industrial investments within the free zone.

The operation of the plant is an extension of an investment agreement signed in 2024 as part of ongoing efforts to attract direct industrial investments. The project operates under an industrial license within the engineering and electronics category, specialising in the production of air conditioning units for both the local market and export.

In its operational plans, the factory aims to strengthen its local market presence while expanding exports to several regional and global markets, including the GCC, the Middle East, Africa, Europe, and Asia. It leverages the strategic geographical location of the Salalah Free Zone and its integrated logistics and infrastructure system that supports manufacturing industries.

The factory's products are characterised by their adherence to the highest international specifications and standards. The facility operates under the ISO 9001 quality management system, and the air conditioning units undergo rigorous testing in accordance with Gulf standards. Furthermore, the products have obtained the Gulf Conformity Mark (G-Mark), enhancing their competitiveness in both local and international markets.

Dr. Ali Mohammed Tabuk, CEO of Salalah Free Zone, stated that the commencement of the factory's operations reflects increasing investor confidence in the investment environment provided by the free zone. He noted that it embodies the success of efforts to attract high-value-added industrial projects that support economic diversification and boost industrial exports.

On his part, Dr. Jawad Al Rashid, owner and Chairman of Engineering Industries Company, confirmed that the Salalah Free Zone was selected for its strategic location, which facilitates access to global markets, as well as its integrated infrastructure and investment facilities. He pointed out that these factors supported the investment decision and enabled the factory to implement its expansion and export plans efficiently.

The factory is considered a qualitative addition to the series of industrial projects in the Salalah Free Zone, strengthening industrial supply chains, increasing the industrial sector's contribution to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP), and consolidating the Sultanate of Oman's position as a regional industrial and logistics hub.
