Injaz Oman holds strategic workshop on relationship between business and marketing

Muscat: Meeting the demand of increasingly competitive local markets, Injaz Oman recently collaborated with BP Oman to deliver its Student Company Programme and Competition with a strategic workshop on the relationship between business and marketing.
The energy firm lead 40 local enterprises through the session, exploring communication with target audiences to ensure an outcome that supports each business’ objectives.
“Communication remains at the forefront of almost every operation worldwide, whether they are industrially, commercially or privately based; subsequently its important to share knowledge on the fundamentals and enhance the skills of Oman’s future business leaders. The workshop delivered added value to our Company Programme, empowering participants by enhancing their understanding and thus effectiveness in business communication,” said Khaula Al Harthy, Executive Director of Injaz Oman.
Thuraya Al Taei, communications manager at BP Oman, said, “I was pleased with the interaction of attendees, they seemed very eager to learn and take the best out of this workshop. BP Oman’s Social Investment Programme strategy goes beyond funding, we believe in the transfer of knowledge and community engagement to result in an effective impact”.
In reference to the firm’s participation at Injaz Oman’s Company Programme, she added, “BP Oman’s staff are active volunteers in this initiative, with personnel from different departments mentoring and engaging student companies in a number of different capacities.”
Following a case study on advertisement, students explored how to utilize various media channels to communicate about their products, as well as how to deliver messages for enterprises that offer business-to-business services. Interactive group discussions were held for students to express their experiences communicating, with BP Oman offering direct feedback on each line of enquiry.
Al Zahraa Khalifah Al Hashmi, an attendee of the workshop representing student company ‘Baqaa’, said, “I learnt that the messages we send out not only create feelings for a brand or business, but that communication can be used to inspire growth in a number of ways — by raising market confidence for example. We should create lasting ideas for our audiences, which includes our customers, potential investors, clients and stakeholders; therefore how we interact, what we say, and the language used is an important thing for businesspeople to understand — especially when you consider the power of social media.”
Injaz Oman collaborates with BP Oman in various capacities, and is currently positioned as the official ‘Implementing Partner’ of the energy firm’s Social Investment Programme, an initiative working to provide local communities with opportunities for interaction, development and learning.
