Muscat; The Sultanate of Oman has strongly condemned remarks made by the United States Ambassador to Israel that were seen as implying acceptance of imposing control over Arab lands, including the occupied Palestinian territories.
In a statement the Foreign Ministry expressed its categorical rejection of such statements, stressing that they violate international law and the Charter of the United Nations. The ministry warned that such positions undermine prospects for peace and threaten regional security and stability.
The statement reaffirmed Oman’s longstanding position in support of the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination, including the establishment of an independent state based on the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, and the end of the occupation of all Arab lands.
