UAE condemns drone attack on consulate in Iraqi Kurdistan

Abu Dhabi: The United Arab Emirates Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly condemned a drone attack that targeted the UAE Consulate General in Kurdistan in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, causing material damage but no injuries.

In an official statement, the ministry described the attack as treacherous and emphasized that targeting diplomatic missions represents a clear violation of international laws and norms, particularly the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, which guarantees full protection and immunity for diplomatic premises and personnel.

The UAE stressed that such actions constitute a dangerous escalation and pose a serious threat to regional security and stability.

The ministry called on both the Government of Iraq and the Kurdistan Regional Government to conduct a thorough investigation to identify those responsible for the attack and ensure they are held accountable.

The statement reaffirmed the UAE’s categorical rejection of attacks aimed at undermining security and stability, and stressed the importance of protecting diplomatic missions and their staff in accordance with international law.
