
Salalah: The Ministry of Education on Wednesday began evaluating students from the schools of the Directorate General of Education in the Governorate of Dhofar, who qualified to the final stage of the 2025-2026 Holy Quran Competition—the 50th edition of the contest.
The 4-day assessment stage evaluates the performance of students from public and private schools, as well as students with visual or hearing or intellectual disabilities.
The competition comprises 6 levels. The first 5 levels deal with memorizing 1 part, 2 consecutive parts, 3 consecutive parts, 4 consecutive parts and memorizing 10 parts—among them 5 should be consecutive.
The 6th level is dedicated to the perfect recitation of the Holy Quran, and it comprises three main levels: (From down to up) Level 3 targets students from grades 1 to 4 and it requires reciting two consecutive parts of the Quran; Level 2 targets students from grades 5 to 9 and it requires reciting three consecutive parts; and Level 3 targets students from grades 10 to 12 and it requires reciting four consecutive parts.
The Holy Quran Memorization Competition seeks to instill Islamic values in students, encourage them to memorize the Holy Quran and contemplate its meanings, in addition to developing skills in reciting the Holy Quran.
