Culture Ministry announces supported initiatives for 2026

Muscat--- The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth today announced the supported initiatives for the year 2026, totaling 68 initiatives covering various fields across all governorates of the Sultanate of Oman.

Hilal Saif Al Siyabi, Director General of the General Directorate of Youth at the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, stated that the Ministry is moving steadily toward supporting such youth initiatives due to their significant impact on local communities. These initiatives now target more than 14,000 beneficiaries across the various governorates of the Sultanate of Oman and contribute to instilling a spirit of initiative among Omani youth. This confirms their preservation of longstanding customs while encouraging them to be proactive in achieving impact and benefit for all segments of society.

In a statement to Oman News Agency, he explained that the youth initiatives support project is a major undertaking that receives significant priority and continuous follow-up from the Ministry, represented by the General Directorate of Youth. This is because the activities of these initiatives continue throughout the year and are geographically distributed to cover most of Oman’s governorates, adding another dimension to the project’s inclusivity. He confirmed that this year, the number of initiatives applying for support exceeded 100, with 68 receiving full support—an increase from the 61 initiatives supported last year. He added that the diversity of these fields enhances their societal value.

He further explained that the support process undergoes several stages, beginning with registration and application via an electronic link, followed by a project study, the announcement of results, and finally the signing of an agreement between the Ministry and the initiative to improve and govern the work. He noted that the issuance of the Youth Initiatives Regulation in 2023 serves as further evidence of the attention given to these initiatives and the effort to govern them and define their operational path, ensuring the rights of both the initiatives and the Ministry are upheld.
