
Muscat: Anwar Hilal Al Jabri, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion met in Muscat on Tuesday with Dr. Khalifa Rajab, Acting Minister of Oil and Gas of the State of Libya, and Dr. Suhail Bou Sheikha, Minister of Economy and Trade of the State of Libya. During the meeting, discussions focused on means of enhancing economic, commercial, and industrial cooperation, as well as increasing the volume of trade exchange between the Sultanate of Oman and the State of Libya.
The two sides also explored ways to strengthen supply chain integration between the industrial sectors of both countries, enhance industrial cooperation, attract investments and propose the establishment of joint industrial projects in priority areas of mutual interest. Discussions also covered investment in promising sectors, particularly energy, renewable energy, and related industries, as well as organizing specialised forums in sectors of common interest to attract Libyan investors to the Sultanate of Oman.
Both parties affirmed their commitment to continued dialogue on studying opportunities for joint industrial investments and identifying export opportunities for Omani products in the Libyan market.
It is worth noting that the volume of trade exchange between the Sultanate of Oman and the State of Libya during 2025 reached approximately OMR19.5 million. Omani exports to the Libyan market totalled around OMR19.26 million, distributed between OMR17.33 million in national exports and OMR1.92 million in re-exports, while imports from Libya amounted to approximately OMR190,600.
In terms of investment, Libyan investment in the Sultanate of Oman recorded notable levels by 2025, with total invested capital reaching approximately OMR872.3 million, distributed across 368 companies involving Libyan contributions from 608 Libyan shareholders. The total value of Libyan participation in these companies amounted to approximately OMR335.49 million, representing about 78.8% of the total invested capital.
The meeting was attended by Eng. Ghaleb Said Al Maamari, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion for Commerce and Industry, along with a number of officials from both sides.
