
Taqa: The activities of the third edition of the Agricultural Forum concluded on Thursday in the Wilayat of Taqa, Dhofar Governorate. Organised by the Office of the Wali of Taqa in cooperation with the General Directorate of Agricultural Wealth, Fisheries, and Water Resources, the forum aimed to facilitate the exchange of expertise and review qualitative initiatives contributing to the development of the agricultural and livestock sectors, with the participation of several public and private entities.
Suhail Mohammed Al Maashani, a specialist at the Office of the Wali of Taqa, emphasised in his speech that the forum embodies the continuous interest in the agricultural sector and strengthens its role in supporting the national economy and achieving self-sufficiency. He highlighted the importance of exchanging experiences, reviewing the latest initiatives, discussing challenges, and proposing innovative solutions.
The forum featured several dialogue sessions and workshops discussing various themes, alongside the opening of an accompanying exhibition showcasing agricultural and livestock products from the wilayat, reflecting the local community's efforts in this vital sector.
Furthermore, the event included awareness lectures targeting school students, livestock breeders, and beekeepers, focusing on disseminating modern practices in agriculture and bio-production and enhancing water resource efficiency. It also featured competitions aimed at stimulating individual initiatives and boosting local production among citizens.
At the conclusion of the forum, Sheikh Tarik Khalid Al Hinai, Wali of Taqa and chief guest of the occasion, honored the participants and winners.
The forum aimed to raise awareness regarding the importance of home and seasonal farming, encourage youth to invest in agricultural resources, increase vegetation cover, and utilize the Khareef season in Dhofar Governorate for growing seasonal crops.
