Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman will join the international community in observing the World Creativity and Innovation Day, which falls on April 21 every year.
The event seeks to highlight the use of creative thinking and technology in achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
In this context, the Research and Innovation Authority (RIA) affirms its commitment to support and empower the scheme of innovation in the Sultanate of Oman, notably by furnishing proper grounds for research and hosting creative initiatives and national talents in a manner that contributes to the development of a sustainable economy based on deep-rooted knowledge.
Najah bint Mohammed Al Rashdi, who is in charge of the directorate general of the Innovation Centre at the Research and Innovation Authority, told Oman News Agency (ONA) that “observing the World Creativity and Innovation Day embodies growing awareness about the importance of establishing the concepts of creativity and innovation as fundamental pillars for achieving sustainable development, enhancing readiness to face global challenges and devising innovative solutions that support economic progress and social growth, besides opening up vistas for empowering youth and women and enhancing their role in building a prosperous future.”
Najah explained that the World Creativity and Innovation Day represents a milestone for renewing the national commitment to support the scheme of innovation.
She affirmed that the RAI maintains its leading role as a key driver of the innovation system. This, she noted, takes shape in the RIA’s initiatives of converting ambitious ideas into tangible reality that contributes to serving society and consolidating the national economy in line with the objectives of the Oman Vision 2040, which, she said, made innovation as one of its most prominent strategic goals for achieving comprehensive and sustainable development.
