
Muscat: The Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion (MoCIIP) signed a cooperation programme on Sunday in Muscat with Oman Industrialists Association to provide a number of the Association’s services through the electronic portal of Sanad Service Centres. The programme aims to facilitate professional accreditation procedures for industrialists, ensuring that these services are easy, flexible, rapid, and streamlined for the public.
The programme was signed on behalf of the Ministry by Eng. Ghalib Saif Al Maamari, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion for Commerce and Industry, and on behalf of the Association by Maqbool Ali Al Lawati, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Association.
Eng. Al Maamari explained that this programme is part of the Ministry’s efforts to develop Sanad Service Centres and diversify their revenue streams. He noted that this step implements one of the outcomes of Sanad Service Centres Lab, which aims to ensure the centres’ sustainability and enhance their role in delivering high-quality services to beneficiaries.
He added that the programme forms part of the implementation of the Industrial Strategy, which seeks to improve the efficiency of the industrial sector workforce.
In turn, the Vice Chairman of Oman Industrialists Association stated that this programme represents an effective model of collaboration and partnership between the public and private sectors. It aims to facilitate access to professional accreditation for workers by simplifying procedures and providing services through multiple channels, thereby contributing to raising workforce competence and enhancing performance quality in the industrial sector in line with national standards that ensure safe and sound professional practice.
It is worth noting that professional accreditation is a regulatory and procedural framework for verifying the qualifications and skills of workers (both Omani nationals and expatriates) and classifying them according to national standards to ensure their competence and safe, lawful professional practice. It aims to regulate the labour market, improve productivity quality, and reduce unqualified professional practices through classification and licensing.
As of the first quarter of 2026, the total number of services provided through the electronic portal of Sanad Service Centres reached approximately 390, an indicator reflecting the growing efficiency of performance and the continued active role of the centres in supporting the government and private service delivery ecosystem.
Following the signing of the cooperation programme, the Undersecretary held a meeting with the Association as part of efforts to strengthen the public-private partnership and continue initiatives aimed at developing the industrial sector and stimulating industrial investments in the Sultanate of Oman.
The meeting reviewed key challenges facing industrialists across various activities were reviewed, and discussed ways to overcome obstacles and improve the industrial business environment.
The two sides explored opportunities for developing joint initiatives, particularly in areas such as improving factory operational efficiency, enabling industrial small and medium enterprises (SMEs), enhancing in-country value (ICV), and supporting innovation and modern technologies in the industrial sector.
The Association also presented its efforts in supporting the industrial sector by providing studies, technical consultations, and organizing training programmes, in addition to its role in facilitating communication among industrial investors and representing them before various entities, thereby enhancing the integration of Oman’s industrial ecosystem.
