
Muscat: A delegation from the Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones (OPAZ) is currently visiting the People's Republic of China to explore opportunities in high-tech industries. The mission focuses on the pharmaceutical and medical device sectors, as well as enhancing cooperation with leading Chinese companies in logistics and petroleum product storage.
The delegation is headed by His Excellency Engineer Ahmed bin Hassan Al-Dheeb, Vice Chairman of OPAZ, and includes several senior officials from various economic zones, Khazaen Economic City, and Sohar Port. During the visit, the Omani representatives met with government officials and specialists in biopharmaceuticals to discuss potential partnerships and the transfer of advanced medical technologies.
In addition to high-level meetings, the delegation conducted field visits to several Chinese economic zones and advanced manufacturing plants specializing in medical equipment and petroleum storage facilities. These site visits provided an opportunity to witness firsthand the latest industrial innovations and to discuss how such projects could be integrated into Oman’s growing economic landscape.
Chinese companies expressed a positive interest in investing in the Sultanate of Oman, specifically seeking to learn more about the competitive incentives offered within Omani economic zones, free zones, and industrial cities. This visit marks a significant step in strengthening bilateral economic ties and attracting specialised foreign direct investment to support Oman’s industrial diversification goals.
