Foreign Minister, Vatican Ambassador review efforts to consolidate tolerance, coexistence

Muscat– Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister, received today in Muscat Archbishop Dr. Nicolas Henry Thevenin, Ambassador of the Vatican to the Sultanate of Oman.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed the relations of friendship and understanding between the Sultanate of Oman and the Vatican, as well as efforts to support interfaith and intercultural dialogue based on the foundations of respect and tolerance.

The Foreign Minister praised the stances and statements issued by Pope Leo XIV calling for the achievement of justice and peace, the cessation of wars, the rejection of violence, and the prioritization of dialogue and peaceful solutions. He affirmed the importance of these calls in consolidating the values of peace and coexistence, and in enhancing international efforts aimed at achieving security and stability.

On his part, the Vatican Ambassador expressed the Vatican leadership's appreciation for the wise peace policy pursued by the Sultanate of Oman and the steadfastness of the principles upon which it is based. He also commended Oman's role in supporting dialogue, containing crises, and mitigating their repercussions, in addition to its humanitarian efforts and civilized approach in addressing various challenges in a manner that serves the interests of all.

The meeting was attended by Munthir bin Mahfoudh Al Mantheri, Head of the Europe Department at the Foreign Ministry, along with a number of officials from both sides.
