Residential electricity tariffs to be reduced, no disconnections in peak summer

MUSCAT: The Authority for Public Services Regulation (APSR) will reduce electricity tariffs for residential users, in addition to taking measures to prevent service disconnections during peak summer.

Consumers will also have the option of flexible payment plans.

Oman News Agency reported that the authority said the move aims to deal with the impact of increased electricity consumption due to increasing heat.

The measures will be in force from May till August 2026.

APSR also said it would not disconnect electricity services for residential users during this period and encouraged consumers to opt for flexible bill payment plans to manage higher usage.
