Omani Women's Academy wins Sharjah-based UNESCO Regional Office’s Sustainable Education Award

Sharjah: The Omani Women’s Academy has won the second edition of the “Sustainable Education Award” granted by the Sharjah-based Regional Centre for Educational Planning (RCEP) in Sharjah, affiliated to the UNESCO.

The academy won the award in the category of Outstanding Project, for its project named “Pioneers Incubator”. The project was a leading national initiative launched by the Omani Women’s Academy to empower women in the field of entrepreneurship by furnishing an integrated innovative environment that supports the conversion of ideas into tangible, sustainable projects.

The “Pioneers Incubator” project constitutes an integrated digital model in the field of sustainable vocational education. It provides a comprehensive digital vocational education experience that contributes to achieving the 4th Sustainable Development Goal (SDG), notably in developing vocational skills, ensuring equal educational opportunities and promoting education for sustainable development. The initiative also enhances women’s contribution to the national economy in line with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040.

The incubator benefits families that operate their own business projects, job seekers and women with disabilities who wish to embark on successful entrepreneurial experiences. It provides women with an integrated system of modern skills, in addition to guidance and mentoring programmes run by a select group of experts and specialised consultants. It also opens up prospects for partnerships and opportunities for funding to support the establishment of women-led startups that are capable of competing and contributing to supporting the local economy.

The Omani Women’s Academy is a youth initiative that aims to empower women and develop their leadership and skills professional abilities through specialised training programmes and workshops that help them engage actively in community development.
