
Muscat: The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, represented by the Literary Forum, organized today an academic seminar titled "Translation and the Challenges of Transmitting Contemporary Discourse" as part of its 2026 cultural programs. This initiative falls within the Ministry's efforts to advance the field of translation, enhance its presence in the cultural and knowledge landscape, and equip those interested with the scientific and professional skills related to this vital domain.
The seminar, held at the Cultural Club with the participation of a number of academics and specialists in translation studies, addressed the most prominent challenges facing translation education and practice amid accelerating knowledge and technological transformations, as well as the impacts that artificial intelligence applications have had on linguistic and translation competence and labour market requirements.
The seminar featured an open dialogue between the speakers and an audience of academics and practitioners in the field of translation studies. The discussion focused on foreseeing the current challenges facing translation education and practice amidst contemporary digital and cultural transformations.
