Muscat— Three security personnel were killed and three attackers were shot dead after gunmen stormed the Sindh Rangers' local headquarters in Karachi, Pakistan, following an explosion and heavy exchange of gunfire, according to Pakistani authorities.
Sindh Inspector General Jawad Alam Uddo told Dawn newspaper that the assailants launched the attack on the Rangers' facility before security forces responded, killing all three gunmen.
The incident marks the most significant militant attack in Karachi since an October 2024 bombing targeting a convoy carrying Chinese nationals, which killed two Chinese citizens.
While Pakistan's major cities have seen relatively few militant attacks in recent years, violence has surged in areas bordering Afghanistan, raising concerns that militant groups may again be expanding their operations into urban centres.
The authorities have launched an investigation into the attack.
