Oman Air signs Buckingham Palace Declaration to join United for Wildlife Transport Taskforce

London---- Oman Air has officially signed the Buckingham Palace Declaration to join United for Wildlife’s Transport Taskforce, a global coalition dedicated to combating the illegal wildlife trade.

Based in the United Kingdom and founded by Prince William and The Royal Foundation, United For Wildlife brings together more than 400 partners from across industries worldwide to disrupt wildlife trafficking and protect endangered species.

Con Korfiatis, Chief Executive Officer of Oman Air, signed the declaration in a ceremony held in London during the 10th anniversary of the United for Wildlife Transport Taskforce. As its newest member, Oman Air will join other airlines, ports, shipping companies, freight organisations and logistics firms in raising awareness about the nature, scale, and consequences of illegal wildlife trade, encouraging the adoption of zero-tolerance policies, and supporting detection and information sharing.

Con Korfiatis said, “As the national airline operating a network connecting Oman to destinations around the world, we recognize both the opportunity and responsibility we have to help prevent the illegal trafficking of endangered wildlife through air transport. We are proud to add our support to this declaration and are committed to working alongside industry partners to help advance global efforts to combat this illicit trade.”

Lord William Hague, Co-Chair of United for Wildlife said, “As we mark the 10th anniversary of the United for Wildlife Transport Taskforce, we are delighted to see momentum continuing, with new signatories strengthening the global effort to close routes exploited by traffickers and prevent the illegal wildlife trade. We’re delighted to welcome Oman Air to the Taskforce. By signing the Buckingham Palace Declaration, they join this growing global effort, and their commitment helps to strengthen the aviation sector’s ability to detect and deter these crimes through collaboration with law enforcement and conservation partners.”

The signing of the Buckingham Palace Declaration reflects Oman Air’s broader commitment to sustainability and responsible business practices. As well as contributing to the Sultanate of Oman’s Net Zero 2050 vision, the airline is an active member of the Environmental Protection Committee led by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), undertaking a key role in national aviation sustainability efforts.
