Sur: Oman LNG on Monday marked a significant milestone with the arrival and loading of the LNG carrier Muscat LNG, as the vessel departs with its first LNG cargo from Oman to international markets, reinforcing the Sultanate’s role as a reliable global energy supplier.
The deployment of Muscat LNG, owned by Asyad Shipping, represents a strategic addition to Oman’s LNG export capabilities and highlights continued national collaboration across the energy, maritime, and logistics sectors.
This milestone follows the recent naming of Muscat LNG, one of the latest LNG carriers built to the highest international standards of operational efficiency, safety, and environmental performance. The vessel is equipped with advanced dual-fuel propulsion systems and next-generation technologies aimed at reducing emissions and enhancing fuel efficiency, aligning with global energy transition goals.
The first cargo voyage underscores Oman LNG’s commitment to delivering energy responsibly and reliably to global markets, while supporting the Sultanate’s ambitions under Oman Vision 2040 to strengthen its position as a key player in energy supply chains and maritime logistics.
Commenting on this milestone, Hamad Mohammed Al Nu’amani- Chief Executive Officer of Oman LNG- said: “This first shipment aboard Muscat LNG marks an important milestone in our journey to continuously enhance Oman’s LNG export capabilities. It reflects our strong collaboration with national partners, including Asyad Shipping, and our shared commitment to operational excellence, sustainability, and delivering reliable energy to the world.”
The successful deployment of Muscat LNG further demonstrates the strength of Oman’s integrated energy ecosystem and its ability to adapt to evolving global energy demands, while advancing sustainable and efficient maritime transport solutions.
Oman LNG is a joint venture established in 1994 and is one of the Sultanate’s flagship energy companies, producing and delivering liquefied natural gas (LNG) to global markets. The company plays a pivotal role in supporting Oman’s economic diversification and energy sector development.
Oman LNG has grown to be the largest income earner for the Sultanate of Oman, after oil revenues. Beyond its direct contribution to revenue, Oman LNG has been pivotal to social development, executing a myriad of social investment initiatives that have triggered job creation and entrepreneurship, spread quality education and healthcare, encouraged women’s development and supported tourism, among others.
It is worth noting that the investment arm of the Oman LNG Development Foundation holds a 10% stake in the national LNG carrier Muscat LNG, reflecting its strategic commitment to supporting investments across the energy, maritime, and logistics sectors.
The arrival of Muscat LNG marks the first of two LNG carriers expected at the Oman LNG terminal, with the second vessel scheduled to berth in July. These milestones underscore Oman’s commitment to strengthening its integrated energy value chain by expanding national capabilities across LNG production, maritime transportation, and global delivery, supporting the objectives of Oman Vision 2040 to maximize value creation and reinforce the Sultanate’s position as a leading energy and logistics hub.
